Technical training

Anyone with the appropriate background knowledge and skills required to complete the course is welcome to apply or register for the Crick technical training programme. 

Any specific prerequisites will be clearly outlined on the individual course pages. 

Some Crick technical training courses require you to complete an application form to ensure you have the appropriate knowledge and skills to benefit from the course. If an application is required, the application form can be found at the end of the course page. Once the application deadline has passed, all applications will be reviewed by the lead educators. Successful applicants will then be offered a place on the course. 

If an application is not required, you can register immediately by clicking the register button on the course page. 

Registration for Crick courses is available exclusively through the Crick online learning platform. Payment must be made by debit or credit card; bank transfer or other payment methods are not accepted. If you are offered a place following an application, you will receive a registration link by email. If an application is not required, simply click the register button on the course page. 

You will then be redirected to the Crick online learning platform to complete your registration and payment. After logging in, place the course in the shopping basket, go to the shopping basket, agree to the Terms and Conditions and checkout. Please note that you are not registered until the payment is completed. 

All course materials are hosted on the Crick online learning platform. For in-person events, course materials will be available at least one week before the course starts. You will receive an email notification when they are ready. 

To access your materials, log in to the Crick online learning platform using the details provided during registration. Click on the ‘my courses’ tab at the top-left to see and access your course.  

Access to course materials varies depending on the course. 

For online courses, access duration will be clearly stated on the course page and in the welcome module. 

For in-person events, you will have access to the course materials for three months after the course. 

The Crick does not offer funding to attend its external technical training events. However, external organisations such as the Company of Biology, the Royal Microscopical Society, and the Royal Society of Biology offer travel grants to support attendance. 

Photos taken during in-person events may be shared with fellow attendees and trainers, and may also be used for internal communications and external marketing purposes. If you do not wish to be included in photographs, you can let a member of the training team know during the event or via email.
