Simon joined the Business Development team at the Crick in 2021. As a Senior Business Manager he works with researchers to protect and commercialise the intellectual property that they create.
His focus areas within the portfolio are physical sciences, engineering, software, platform technologies and research tools. Simon has strong interest in entrepreneurship and is an advisor to Crick Science Entrepreneur Network.
Simon’s career has spanned research, venture capital, and life science startups. Prior to joining the Crick, he was head of business development and then chief operating officer of an Oxford University spinout company. His experience includes technology scouting, IP management, fundraising, partnerships, regulatory affairs and market launch.
Simon holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Bristol and he started his career as postdoctoral scientist at the University of British Columbia and Oxford University.
