Mikaela Keyser

Postdoctoral Fellow

I am a postdoctoral research fellow in the Organ Morphodynamics Laboratory. I obtained my Bachelors of Advanced Science with Honours at the University of Queensland, majoring in biomedical science, which included research under the supervision of Professor Benjamin Hogan into identification and characterisation of a novel ERK biosensor in zebrafish. I completed my Honours degree with Associate Professor Anne Lagendijk at the Institute for Molecular Biosciences whereby I investigated the role of Adrenomedullin signalling in maintenance of blood vessel integrity. In my PhD, I explored the molecular mechanisms that drive cerebral cavernous malformation development using both zebrafish and 3D bioengineered microvessel models. After my PhD, I started in the Priya Lab as a postdoctoral research fellow, focusing on understanding how microtubules contribute to the contractile mechanics of cardiomyocytes and are differentially regulated during heart development.
