Course info

This intensive course focuses on enhancing participants' skills in multidimensional imaging and analysis using light microscopy.

With a mix of theoretical sessions and hands-on experience, the programme aims to deepen the delegates’ understanding of advanced microscopy techniques and enable them to apply their newly acquired knowledge in research settings.

The training is developed and delivered by the Crick Advanced Light Microscopy (CALM) Science Technology Platforms (STPs), and you can find out more about the team.

The event is intended for core facility staff and postdoctoral researchers with a basic understanding of light microscopy. Ideal participants are those with a minimum three to five years’ experience in a research environment, with one to two years' experience in basic microscopy.

The multi-dimensional imaging and analysis training will:

  • Provide comprehensive training in 3D imaging, analysis, and super-resolution microscopy
  • Expose the delegates to real world applications, such as cell tracking, nuclear segmentation, and protein co-localisation, and foster practical applications of these skills in a research context
  • Include hands-on experience with various microscopy equipment and samples, including cultured cells, histology slides and organoids, and led by experienced trainers in microscopy
  • Feature interactive learning opportunities with discussions, analysis sessions, and presentations by participants

This training is limited to 16 delegates, that will be split into smaller groups for personalised learning and practical sessions. Candidates are required to apply below detailing their microscopy experience and the expected impact of this training on their professional practice. Applications will be reviewed by the lead educators and successful candidates will be invited to register. Registration fees are £1000; discounted registration fees of £800 are available to staff and students from Imperial College London, (UCL) University College London and King’s College London.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and will close once all spots are filled, so apply at your earliest convenience to avoid disappointment.

By applying and/or registering to this course, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the Terms and Conditions.

This training is approved by the Royal Society of Biology. Training course approval is an independent review process that recognises relevant, high quality training. Upon completion of this course, attendees can claim 150 CPD points.
