My long-term research interests involve understanding the cellular mechanisms which yield effective and durable immunity against infections and cancer. During my doctoral studies with Dr. Erika Pearce in the US and Germany funded in part by a NSF graduate research fellowship, I investigated mitochondrial dynamics and their relationship between cellular metabolism and T cell fate. As a EMBO and Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow, I continue to build upon my training in metabolic programming of cellular development, differentiation, and function as I examine dendritic cell (DC) biology with Dr. Caetano Reis e Sousa.
