Kim Jonas has been a Principal Investigator at King’s College London since 2019. She received her BSc in Biochemistry with a Sandwich year from The University of Kent at Canterbury in 2001, and Ph.D. in reproductive endocrinology at University College London in 2005.
Kim undertook two postdoctoral training posts, the first at the Royal Veterinary College with Prof. Rob Fowkes, where she uncovered novel signalling pathways activated by guanylyl cyclase receptors in the anterior pituitary.
The second post was at The Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology at Imperial College London with Prof. Ilpo Huhtaniemi in collaboration with Prof Aylin Hanyaloglu, where she elucidated novel mechanisms regulating the actions of the gonadotrophin hormone receptors, at single molecule, cellular and physiological levels.
Kim's research focuses on elucidating the fundamental mechanisms regulating ovarian function, fertility and ageing. She has made key contributions to understanding how gonadotrophin hormone receptor oligomerisation diversifies receptor mediated signalling in the context of women’s health and ageing.
Her work is currently funded by Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Medical Research Council (MRC), Leverhulme Trust, and National Institute of Aging (NIA).
