James DiFrisco
GROUP LEADER -
- Email Address:
James DiFrisco is a philosopher of science and theoretical biologist working on themes in developmental and evolutionary biology.
He obtained his PhD in 2015 at KU Leuven (Belgium) and went on to a research fellowship at the interdisciplinary Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research in Austria, where he worked on issues surrounding biological individuality and levels of organisation.
In 2018, he returned to Leuven for a research fellowship focused on developing a dynamical systems approach to issues in evolutionary-developmental biology. This led to a project on the developmental basis of modular, individuated characters, carried out in collaboration with the lab of Günter Wagner at Yale University. James leads a research group dedicated to conceptual theoretical biology at the Crick.
