Jacqueline Chalakova

Postdoctoral Project Research Scientist

I am a Postdoctoral Project Researcher focused on developing innovative tools and approaches to study zebrafish heart development. My work involves advancing and refining techniques for 4D live imaging, quantitative image analysis, and biophysical methods to measure mechanical forces in vivo. Previously, at King’s College London, I explored how early visual experiences shape the developing nervous system and built tools to analyse complex brain activity. During my PhD at the University of Sheffield, I developed a zebrafish model to study brain infections and discovered how changes in brain tissues and fluids contribute to disease. Throughout my career, I’ve combined advanced imaging and data analysis to better understand how living systems grow and adapt.
