intro
We are a dedicated team within the Advanced Light Microscopy, supporting researchers with their image analysis needs.
We provide support by:
- guiding researchers to the right open-source software
- helping researchers write their first script
- assisting researchers on more complex projects
We also run regular training workshops and events open to the wider community.
Work with us
We are part of the EuroBioimaging UK node, and we offer support to external users via their Image Data Analysis Services.
We are also open to host visiting scientists and job shadowing opportunities. Get in touch if you're interested.

Training
We run yearly training workshops open to external applicants.
Our courses
Microscopy: multi-dimensional imaging and analysis
A one-week intensive course focussing on advanced microscopy techniques from both the acquisition and quantitative image analysis perspectives, with a mix of theoretical and hands-on sessions. Takes place in autumn at the Crick.
Introduction to image analysis
A three-day workshop covering the foundational concepts of image analysis and introducing participants to writing and automating pipelines in Fiji, Python and napari. Takes place in autumn at the Crick.
Introduction to CellProfiler for image analysis
A one-day workshop to get started with CellProfiler, an open-source software for image analysis. Takes place twice a year at the Crick.
Royal Microscopical Society workshop
Introduction to image analysis – a three-day workshop covering the foundational concepts of image analysis and introducing participants to writing and automating pipelines in Fiji, Python and napari. Takes place in spring in the UK or in Ireland.
Events
We organise yearly events open to the wider community.
Our events
Crick Bioimage Analysis Symposium (CBIAS)
A yearly symposium featuring a mix of invited and selected talks, poster sessions, and panel discussions focused on current topics in image analysis and image processing for microscopy and computational microscopy. Takes place in autumn in London.
Crick Data Challenge
A friendly multi-day hackathon taking place every autumn at the Crick. A multidisciplinary event that brings together data scientists from our partner universities (Imperial College London, King’s College London, University College London) to tackle projects proposed by Crick researchers.
