Guilherme Fernandes

Senior Laboratory Research Scientist

Guilherme Fernandes joined the Francis Crick Institute in Feberuary 2025 a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist in the Chemical Biology Science and Technology Platform (STP). As a medicinal chemist, he specializes in small molecule antimicrobial drug discovery, collaborating with research groups across the Crick to develop chemical tools for exploring complex biological targets.

Before joining the Crick, Guilherme was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow at University College London, where he focused on discovering novel antibacterial and antitubercular agents, including photoswitchable compounds. He later advanced his research as a Maplethorpe Fellow at the UCL School of Pharmacy, furthering the development of antimicrobial agents.
