Emma Wall

Clinical Research Group Leader

I'm a clinician-scientist in Infectious Diseases. I'm a Clinical Research Group Leader at the Crick, Professor of Clinical Infectious Diseases at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and consultant in Infectious Diseases at UCLH.

I graduated from the University of Bristol and undertook higher specialist training in infection and internal medicine in North West London, Uganda and Malawi. I did my PhD at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme in Malawi, studying clinical management and epidemiology of bacterial meningitis in Malawian adults. I was a NIHR academic clinical lecturer in infectious diseases at UCL before joining the Crick in 2020 as a post-doctoral clinical fellow in the Wilkinson lab.

Since 2021 I have led the Crick Legacy study across the Crick and NHS partner sites in collaboration with the UCLH BRC. We work on understanding both infections with and immunity against new SARS-CoV-2 variants, and implications of chronic infections, including long COVID. We collaborate closely across the Crick and UCLH BRC with a number of other studies, and our data links into national COVID-19 networks.
