Edward McGowan
Head of Translational Science
As Head of Translational Science at the Crick, Ed guides and supports translational science projects, advancing the innovation to successfully attract grant funding, or progress with industry partners.
Ed joined the Crick from Charles River, an organisation that helps pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, government agencies and academic institutions, accelerate their research and drug development efforts. As Director of Biology – Advanced Modalities, Edward lead the Advanced Modalities organisational strategy and was responsible for ~70 researchers over 3 sites.
Prior to Charles River, Edward was the Senior Director of Discovery and Development at Isogenica, being the scientific lead on development programs from discovery to clinical proof of concept . At Isogenica he also worked on bispecific antibody development programs for both haematology and solid tumour indications.
Edward is an Immunologist and Antibody Development Scientist who led programs from concept to preclinical modelling. He also has extensive experience of Business Development through partnering and client engagement.
