David Barry
Image Analysis Lead & STP Deputy
- Email Address: Crick email
Dave is the Image Analysis Lead at the Francis Crick Institute, bringing almost two decades of experience in developing algorithms, pipelines, and open-source software to drive life science discovery. He oversees a small team of dedicated image analysts at the Crick. Dave earned his PhD from TU Dublin in 2010, leveraging image analysis to study filamentous microbes in fermentations. He spent six years as a post-doctoral researcher at the Cancer Research UK London Research Institute, specializing in live cell imaging and software development for quantifying cellular and sub-cellular dynamics. Since moving into a dedicated image analysis role at the Crick in 2017, he has applied his quantitative expertise across a vast project range, culminating in his promotion to Image Analysis Lead in 2021.
