Postdoc - Secondment

I am a Research Fellow at University College London - on secondment at The Francis Crick institute - in the laboratory of Prof Jürg Bähler, working on the functional characterisation of unstudied proteins involved in ageing using the turquoise killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri) as a model.

My research background spans molecular genetics, neurobiology and ageing, with a strong focus on leveraging model organisms to understand the genetic basis of complex biological processes.

Prior to joining UCL, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Queen Mary University of London, where I used forward and reverse genetics in zebrafish to identify and investigate gene variants associated with human psychiatric disorders.

I hold a PhD in Veterinary Science from the University of Naples Federico II, where I studied age-related changes in gene expression and their impact on adult neurogenesis using the short-lived killifish Nothobranchius furzeri. My training includes international research experience as a visiting scientist at the Fritz Lipmann Institute - Leibniz Institute on Aging of Jena in Germany in the laboratory of Prof Alessandro Cellerino, and an academic background in biology, with both BSc and MSc degrees earned from the University of Sannio in Italy.
